Russell E ADAMS, 68 of 16291 Ohio 39 East died Wednesday morning at his home after a two-year illness. He was born Feb 24, 1924, in Mansfield, to Harry and Louise REICHERT ADAMS, both now deceased. Mr ADAMS was sexton of the Loudonville Cemetery for more than 28 years, retiring in 1986, and for 33 years was sales representative for Longstreth Memorials in the Loudonville area. He was a school bus driver for 25 years in the Loudonville- Perrysville school district, was a special policeman for Loudonville Police Department and for more than 20 years was a part-time employee of the Banks-Byerly Funeral Home. Mr ADAMS was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Loudonville, where he served on the church council, and was a former member of the Mayflower Church of Christ in Mansfield. He was a former member and treasurer of the Loudonville Lions Club, former member and president of the Loudonville Board of Public Affairs, member of the Ashland County Facilities Review Board from 1984 to 1990 and a former central committeeman for the Democrat Party. He is survived by his wife, Iona MUTCHLER ADAMS, whom he married March 23, 1942; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom & Karolyn ADAMS, and Sam & Jill ADAMS, all of Loudonville, and Ralph & Kathy ADAMS of Perrysville; a daughter and son-in-law, Jolleen & Rick HANNAHS of Millersburg; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and a sister, Grace McDANIEL of Loudonville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann ADAMS on Jan 25, 1943, and a sister, Lillian MITCHELL, on Oct 18, 1966. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Byerly Funeral Home, where services will be held Saturday at 11 am by the Rev Robert Pflueger. Burial will be in Loudonville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland County Hospice, the Ashland County Cancer Association or the Zion Lutheran Church.
